The cover of AMABIE VER.
一撃殺虫!!ホイホイさんAMABIE VER. (Ichigeki sacchu!! HoiHoi-San AMABIE Ver.) is a one-shot parody, taking place during an unespicified future where the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing. It’s title, AMABIE, is a reference to the yokai of the same name, which became an online trend in japanese social media, as legend says that to bring an end to a pandemic you must draw it and show it to people.
It takes place loosely somewhere during the events of LEGACY, with Mayu and her dad making a brief appearence, but basically every major character gets a cameo on this (except for Furuyashiki for some reason).
The basic conceit is that, because of the pandemic, the major interceptor doll brands decided to release special 'anti-COVID-19 equipped' versions of their dolls to capitalize on tragedy help out society, all themed around different yokai.
Each of them helpfully labeled with the yokai they are based-off of
While this might seem simplistic enough, and the book itself is only 30-something pages, it gets divided into 3 sections, with each one telling a different story on a different reality..
The first one is our standard HoiHoi-San chapter, showing all the drawbacks of getting a robot doll that forces you to take a covid test if it detects your temperature is a bit too high. The second one shows a world where life-sized HoiHoi-San dolls exists, and how they are now doing all the jobs normal people can’t do. And the last one is a comic where a sentient HoiHoi-San and Pest-X-San doll are suffering the effects of quarantine on their small exterminator business.

Life-Sized HoiHoi-San (love this thing)
HoiHoiBuster's Pest-X-San
This one-shot is an odd little thing, its already dated, it makes references to a comic that most people can’t read, its the only full-release we have gotten since the original HoiHoi-San tankobon and its basically a lincensed doujin.
Reccomended, at least is easier to get your hands onto than any of LEGACY.
